The project before NEDlabs
Visionstate had already made progress digitized cleaning management with QR codes and mobile apps, improving documentation and reducing liability. However, their software tools were only as good as the data they had.
To improve the quality of the data, and show real savings to their customers, they tried every off-the-shelf product. Ultimately, they decided they needed something custom for their use case.

NEDlabs collaborated closely with Visionstate to develop a people counting solution specifically designed for facility management applications.

Notable Challenge
The project required wireless communication in facilities that have limited cellular or wifi access, so functionality was built out for both options to use as needed.
What we Achieved
The partnership between Visionstate and NEDlabs resulted in a specialized product that has been deployed in several pilot projects with strong feedback:
Battery-operated sensors with 6+ month life, dashboard for system data, and client-integrated data transfer
Deployed 40 units across multiple pilot projects including Canada’s largest facility management company
Created a strong differentiating factor Visionstate over competitors, garnering positive feedback and immediate further deployment.
We now have a unique solution to us that works specifically for facility management which is, I think, a huge competitive advantage over any competitor that might be using an off the shelf product.
